2010 Program Guidelines

This program assists in the abandonment of private sewage disposal systems and to make connections to sanitary sewerage systems. The program improves environmental conditions and protects the health of the residents of the City of Columbus. 

Eligible Applicants

Assistance will be offered to low and moderate income persons, who own and occupy eligible residences. This assistance will be in the form of a 0% interest deferred loan or a 3% low interest loan.

Eligible households include families earning 80% or less of the area median income (AMI) as determined by HUD regulations, with adjustments for smaller and larger families/households.

NOTE: Total household income includes the income of all adults 18 years of age and older living in the home. 

Eligible Work

Work eligible under the program shall include but is not limited to: the connection cost, which includes the lateral line connecting the sanitary sewer to the house; the internal plumbing connections; the abandonment of the existing on-site system; the system capacity fee; and the permit fee.
